My name is Joy Battaglia. I’ve been a hairstylist for more than two decades, but my passion to help others look and feel their best began much earlier. My career started behind the receptionist desk in 1995 and I quickly worked my way up to behind the chair. I worked in commission salons for the first seven years and then ventured out on my own as an independent stylist renting booth space in Kansas City. Every step of the way has been a blessed experience that has brought me to where I am in my life today. In 2018, I opened SALON on BARRY, which is built on the foundation of my journey in the beauty industry and the relationships I’ve developed with my clientele along the way. My vision from the start was to create a relaxing environment and a place that provides exceptional care to everyone that walks through the doors.
I am excited and feel very fortunate to be a part of the Salon on Barry team, as well as their first Salon Associate hired on! I have always been passionate about this industry and will strive to be the best for you. My goal is to provide you with the most optimal results whether it be color, cut, Brazilian blowouts, Balayage, etc. I look forward to seeing and sharing my knowledge with you.

Many people ask what I like most about my job?
It is truly a joy to take a woman that is feeling lackluster and have her come out radiating because a good manicure truly does go a long way and there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a client’s demeanor change and feeling ready to take on the world.
Being a tech, you hear so many stories, happy and sad. It’s so much fun to be a part of a bride’s special day, doing something special for a birthday, or helping someone relax after a loss/stressful time. We aren’t just nail technicians, we are friends, therapists, or a support network.
I graduated from Donna’s Hair Academy in 2007.
SERVICES I PROVIDE INCLUDE: men’s, women and children’s haircuts & styles, all over colors, highlights / lowlights & facial waxing. I specialize in wedding / formal hair and braids.
I AM OFTEN ASKED WHY I BECAME A HAIRSTYLIST?
I honestly just knew this was my calling when I was about 13. I always did all my friends’ hair for school dances and started coloring my mom’s hair and I loved every bit of it! I am very fortunate that I am still as passionate about my career choice now as I was then. It’s so rewarding getting to make a person feel beautiful when they walk out of the salon, whether it’s just a trim or a whole new look. Seeing a person’s face light up after being in my chair is the main reason I love my job! The relationships I have with my clients I wouldn’t change for the world. I don’t just consider myself their hairstylist, I also consider them my friends/family.
